Opening Prayer

Almighty and eternal God,
with lively faith and reverently worshiping Your divine Majesty,
I prostrate myself before You
and invoke Your supreme bounty and mercy
with filial trust.

Illumine the darkness of my intellect with a ray of Your heavenly light
and inflame my heart with the fire of Your divine love,
that I may contemplate the great virtues and merits of St. Barbara,
and, following her example, imitate the life of Your divine Son.

Please grant my request
through the merits and prayers of St. Barbara.

With her I pray,
"Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

May You most kindly hear and answer my prayer
for Your greater glory and for the salvation of my soul.

Prayer in Honor of St. Barbara

O God, Who adorned Your holy virgin and martyr Barbara
with extraordinary fortitude in the confession of the Faith,
and consoled her in her afflictions,
grant us through her prayers
perseverance in the fulfillment of Your law
and the grace of being fortified with the holy sacraments
at the hour of our death.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Invocation of St. Barbara

Dear St. Barbara,
obtain for me the grace to be preserved from a sudden and unprovided death;
assist me in my agony,
when my senses fail and I am at death's door.

O powerful patroness of the dying, come to my aid
when I become helpless to help myself!

Repel all the assaults and temptations of the evil one,
and obtain for me the grace to receive the final sacraments,
so that I may breathe forth my soul
confirmed in faith, hope, and charity,
and be worthy to enter eternal glory.

Amen.

Concluding Prayer

My Lord and my God,
I offer You my petition
in union with the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, Your Son,
together with the merits of His immaculate and blessed Mother,
Mary ever virgin,
St. Barbara,
and all the saints.

Look down upon me, merciful Lord!

Grant me Your grace and Your love,
and graciously hear my prayer.

Amen.

Prayer to Obtain a Good Death

O Lord, You empower St. Barbara
to console the living and the dying;
through her intercession
grant that we may live in Your divine love
and put all our confidence
in the merits of the most sorrowful passion of Your Son.

May death not come upon us unawares,
but, comforted by the holy sacraments of Penance, Holy Eucharist, and Anointing,
may we set forth towards eternal glory without fear.

This we beseech You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
