Scripture

The four gospels agree that Jesus died the day before the weekly sabbath, i.e., on Friday (using our pagan terminology).

Mt 27:62 The next day, the one following the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate ...[1]
Mk 15:42 When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath, ...
Lk 23:54 It was the day of preparation, and the sabbath was about to begin.
Jn 19:31 Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down.
