Task List

These are the tasks that keep the center tidy during the week. We take about 15 min to do them every day after breakfast. When the participants come they are invited to sign up for a task.

3. Laundry

1. Collect the dirty cleaning rags and bathroom hand towels. Check the following places:

a. Upstairs house bathroom cleaning closet

b. Downstairs house cleaning closet

c. House kitchen

d. Washroom Bathroom

e. Great Kitchen

2. Collect the dirty napkins after meals.

3. Wash and dry kitchen towels and napkins separately from cleaning rags. Wash on a normal setting with one capful of laundry detergent (on shelf above).

4. Fold the laundry - like with like. Bring clean towels back to the house (in the living room cabinet) put clean rags in the upstairs house bathroom cleaning closet, downstairs house cleaning closet and leave the rest at the supply station in the wash room.

5.If you have more time, clean up the laundry area, wipe down the washer and dryer, kill spiders.

4. Trash and Recycle

1. Collect the trash and recyclables throughout the center. Check the following places:

a. Upstairs house bathroom

b. Downstairs house bathroom

c. House kitchen

d. Sacristy

e. Washroom Bathroom

f. Great Room Bathrooms

g. Great Kitchen

h. Outside Pavilion

2. If a bag is less than half full, you can leave it. Please combine bags when possible. Replace every bag you take.

3. Put all the trash in the large 45-gallon trash container you find here at the Transfer Station. When it is full, tie it very tight and take it out to the garage and put it in the wheelbarrow.

4. Sort the recyclables (and rinse them if necessary). Make sure refundable cans, 2 liters, and water bottles are put in the refundable bag.

5. If you have more time, tidy up the transfer station and football-fold the small shopping bags. Please also clean the trash bins when necessary.

5. Vacuum

Since only one person can use the vacuum during task time it is important to cover a lot of ground. Be on the look out for problem areas that need attention and use your good judgment. In general, this could be a guideline for the week:

Monday: Vacuum the chapel - Entrance, aisles, sanctuary, etc.

Tuesday: Vacuum the studio rugs and entrance mats in the Great Room.

Wednesday: Vacuum the house - sleeping spaces upstairs and downstairs.

Thursday: Vacuum the stairs at the back of the church and the hallway with the picture gallery.

Friday: Vacuum the chapel once again - Entrance, aisles, sanctuary, etc.

After vacuuming, follow the instructions to empty the dust canister in the large Great Room trash can at the Transfer Station.

6. Chapel

Everyday: Make sure any dead flowers are removed. Straighten up books and papers. Pick up any debris on the pews or on the floor. Show some love to the Lord's own space!

Monday: Sweep the sanctuary floor.

Tuesday: Wash the glass windows at the back of the church

Wednesday: Take a clean rag from the Cleaning Supply station and wipe down the pews and kneelers.

Thursday: Wash the glass windows at the entrance of the church.

Friday. Sweep the sanctuary floor.

7. Garden

There is a little garden outside and flowers planted around the front sign and flower baskets. Please make sure all are watered each day. Pull some weeds. Show some love.

1)Turn on the hose on and use the spray nozzle to water the flowers it will reach.

2) Fill a bucket and water the flowers the hose will not reach.

3) Recoil the hose.

4)Throw the weeds in the woods.

8. Pavilion, Field, Fire pit

1)Set up the tables and chairs for meals. Get someone to help move benches if necessary.

2)Make sure the field is clean. Gather any sports equipment and put it in the basket by the firewood.

3)Sweep under the pavilion removing any grass and food, throw away wrappers, return stray items to lost and found, put pens and papers with art supplies.

4)Make sure the tables are clean, get a sponge and clean them if necessary.

5) If the pavilion and field are in order, take some time to pull weeds by the fire pit and the flowers.

9. House Bathroom Upstairs

You should find spray disinfectant, toilet bowl cleaner, window cleaner, clean rags, a broom and dustpan, a mop and bucket in the cleaning closet in this bathroom. If something is missing, get it from the washroom supply station.

1) Clean the sink and counter: spray with a disinfectant, wipe clean with a rag.

2) Clean the mirror: spray with glass cleaner, wipe clean with a paper towel.

3) Clean the shower: take a piece of toilet paper and remove hair from drain and throw it in the trash. Spray walls with disinfectant and wipe with a rag; use a scrub brush if needed.

4) Clean the toilet: put toilet bowl cleaner in the bowl and scrub with a toilet brush. Clean the seat and under the seat with disinfectant spray and a rag.

5)Clean the floor: Sweep with a broom. Fill the bucket with water from the shower (the shower head comes off) and a cap-full of all-purpose cleaner. Mop the floor. Dump the dirty water in the toilet when finished.

6)Restock toilet paper and paper towels - bring them up from the Great Room.

7)Empty trash if it is full - bring it to the great room transfer station

Put the rag in the “dirty rag” basket/ bucket when finished. If you have used all the clean rags, bring the dirty rags down to the laundry and pick up clean ones. Thank you for your help!

10. House Sleeping Areas

Everyday:

Put any trash in the trash bin, make sure all cots are tidy and in order.

Clean any debris off the floor.

Put any clothing that is not in a bag or suitcase on a cot.

Dust any surfaces that need dusting.

Clean bugs out of windowsills and shelves.

Fix or report any broken items.

11. House Bathroom Downstairs

You should find spray disinfectant, toilet bowl cleaner, window cleaner, clean dry rags, a broom and dustpan, a mop and bucket in the cleaning closet right outside of this bathroom. If something is missing, get it from the washroom supply station (near the laundry machines).

5)Restock toilet paper and paper towels - get them in the Great Room.

6)Empty trash if it is full - bring it to the Great Room Transfer Station

Put the dirty rags directly in the laundry basket by the washing machine when finished. Thank you for your help!

13. Washroom Showers

You should find spray disinfectant, cleaning rags, a mop and bucket in the supply station outside this bathroom.

1)Take a piece of paper towel or toilet paper and get any hair out of the drain, throw it in the trash.

2)Spray the walls and floor with disinfectant. Wipe with a rag removing all soap residue.

3)Scrub the floors with a scrub brush if necessary.

4) Clean the floor: Sweep with a broom (if dry). Fill the bucket with water from the stainless steel sink in the washroom and add a cap-full of all-purpose cleaner. The floor may need some scrubbing to get dirt out of the grooves, use a scrub brush if necessary. Mop the floor. Dump the dirty water in the toilet when finished.

5)Wipe the soap scum off the wire hanging racks.

Put rags in directly in the laundry basket by the washing machine when finished. Thank you for your help!

14. Washroom Cleanup

Monday: Clean the cobwebs with the webwand and :remove any trash.

Tuesday: Use the broom to sweep or Shop-Vac to vacuum the floor.

Wednesday: Mop the floor.

Thursday: Clean the stainless steel sink.

Friday: Clean clutter, wash surfaces.

15. Great Room Men's and Women's Bathroom

You should find spray disinfectant, toilet bowl cleaner, window cleaner, clean dry rags, a broom and dustpan, a mop and bucket stationed near and in this bathroom. Get cleaning rags and any missing items from the washroom supply station (near the laundry machines).

1)Clean the sinks: spray with a disinfectant, wipe clean with a rag.

2)Clean the mirror: spray with glass cleaner, wipe clean with a paper towel.

3)Clean the three toilets: put toilet bowl cleaner in the bowls and scrub with toilet brush. Clean the seats and under the seats with disinfectant spray and a rag.

4)Clean the floor: sweep with a broom. Fill the bucket with water from the washroom steel sink and a cap-full of all-purpose cleaner. Mop the floor. Dump dirty water in a toilet when finished.

5)Restock toilet paper and paper towels - get them from the Great Room.

6)Empty trash bins if they are full - put trash in the great room transfer station. Put a new bag in the wastebasket (you can get a new bag from the transfer station).

Put the rag in the bin by the laundry machine in the washroom when finished. Thank you for your help!

16. Great Room Cleanup

17. Studio Cleanup

Everyday: Please make sure the cables are as tidy as possible and remove anything (cups, papers) that does not belong in the studio. (See: How to coil cables)

Monday: Tidy up the closet in the back of the studio.

Tuesday: Dust the ledges.

Wednesday: Sweep the floor.

Thursday: Wash the windows.

Friday: Sweep the floor.

18. Camp Van

Monday: Use a rag and multipurpose cleaner to clean the dashboard area in the car.

Tuesday: Use window cleaner to wash the inside windows.

Wednesday: Use the shop-vac from the washroom and an extension cord from the studio to vacuum the carpet and seats in the car.

Thursday: Use the carpet spot lifter (in the car) to scrub any stains on seats or the carpet.

Friday: Wash the outside of the car.

19. Outside Garage Cleanup

Everyday: Sweep Get rid of spiderwebs, bugs, etc. Organize tools, shelves, etc.

21. Art Supplies

Cleaning checklist Please dedicate 15 min each day.

Make sure any stray pens and pencils find their way back to the art supplies station.

Go through the shelves and make sure the label of each shelf corresponds to the contents of the shelf. Spend some effort making things look neat and orderly.

Tidy up the stations for projects.

Thow away markers that don't work.

Wash well and return any wandering paintbrushes.
