Analogy of faith

"By 'analogy of faith' we mean the coherence of the truths of faith among themselves and within the whole plan of Revelation" (CCC #114).

Scripture

The phrase "analogy of faith" is found in Romans 12:6:

⁶ Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith;

⁷ if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching;

⁸ if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Greek

ἔχοντες δὲ χαρίσματα κατὰ τὴν χάριν τὴν δοθεῖσαν ἡμῖν διάφορα, εἴτε προφητείαν κατὰ τὴν ἀναλογίαν τῆς πίστεως.

"kata ten analogian tes pisteos" literally means "according to the analogy of faith."

"regula fidei" = "rule of faith"
