The monophysite heresy teaches that, after the Incarnation, there is only one (monos) nature (physis) in Jesus, a blend of the divine nature and the human nature.

If this were true, then Jesus would be neither "fish nor fowl," neither truly God nor truly human, but some new substance that is neither God nor human.
