- Exult greatly, O daughter Zion!
- Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem!
- Behold: your king is coming to you,
- a just savior is he,
- Humble, and riding on a donkey,
- on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
- - Ps 135:4
- For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his treasured possession.
- "Jacob" is "Israel." They are two names for the same person, not two separate people! In choosing Jacob/Israel, God also chooses all of Jacob's descendants, who are collectively called "Israel."
- Canticle - Judith 16:14
- Let your every creature serve you;
- for you spoke, and they were made,
- you sent forth your spirit, and they were created;
- no one can resist your word.
- You shall be a glorious crown in the hand of the Lord,
- a royal diadem held by your God.
- Thus says the Lord:
- In their affliction, they shall look for me:
- “Come let us return to the Lord,
- For it is he who has rent, but he will heal us;
- he has struck us, but he will bind our wounds'.
- He will revive us after two days;
- on the third day he will raise us up,
- to live in his presence.”
- In the beginning was the Word,
- and the Word was with God,
- and the Word was God.
- He was in the beginning with God.
- All things came to be through him,
- and without him nothing came to be.
- What came to be
- through him was life,
- and this life was the light of the human race;
- the light shines in the darkness,
- and the darkness has not overcome it.
- My soul [psyche] proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
- my spirit [pneuma] rejoices in God my savior.
